35^th Annual Kwanzaa Gwaride

“A New Paradigm”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Los Angeles' Kwanzaa Man R. W.Akile announced at a South LA press conference today final plans for the35^th Annual Kwanzaa Gwaride (gwa-ree-dey) Parade and Festival, 12 noon, December 26, 2011 starting at Adams and Crenshaw marching to Leimert Park. The celebration opensthe 46th Year of the Kwanzaa Era (KE), TheYear of Ujamaa with a traditional salute honoring our Kebulani (African)ancestors and exalting our culture. “ANew Paradigm” is the theme of this year’s celebration. Gwaride will feature the “Bendera Gwaride”where the 54 Flags of Kebulan/Africa and the flags of ANY nation where Blackpeople live will be carried as an act of Umoja (Unity) on the First day ofKwanzaa.

Traditional Chiwara Masksrepresenting the ancestors bringing us into the New Year and a maskerrepresenting Sango, the Patron Orisa of Kwanzaa will lead the Gwaride. Included in the procession is an “OurstoricalDrama” which is a mobile dramatization of actual ancestors and mythical figuresfrom the past which come to life as they walk in the Gwaride. Thisyear’s roster includes Queen Kalifia, (whom California is named for), Harriet Tubman, ShakaZulu, Mami Wata, and Yemoja the premier mother energies of Kebulan. Kabade Brown, will perform his single release“Obama’s Brighter Days” as a special treat during the Gwaride. Additionalentrants include a vintage Fire truck, New Orleans Second Line Dancers, DrillTeams, Car Clubs, Motorcycle Clubs, Churches, Fraternal Organizations,businesses, civic leaders, and dignitaries.

This year’s royal figureswill be community activist and author of the book “I Was There” Linda Jay, asour Iyaba (Queen) and independent film maker Walter Powell, producer anddirector of the award winning film “After School” as our Oba (King). ForLinda Jay, Dec. 26th, the birthday of her late daughter Britany J. Phillips,will represent an end to her period of mourning the tragic July 2007 loss ofher daughter. For Walter Powell, this represents recognition of his efforts tosuccessfully produce an independent Black film with a positive messageindicating that there is more than one way to market one’s creativeproduct. We are honored to announce theselection of these special individuals as our Iyaba and Oba.

Creating miracles in your life is no more complicated than understanding the metaphysics of the Universal Law. And because that law is indestructible and therefore infinite, we know that the power used by miracle-makers in the past is still available today. Yet, in our modern society, we're brought up to believe only in those things we can logically understand. We're not taught either that the Universal Law has limitless potential or that this power is at our disposal and can be used to work miracles in our own lives.

Understanding the Universal Law

To understand miracles, we have to look at two aspects of the Universal Law. First, there lies deep within all humankind an immense power; and second, the power is impartial and unemotional. Call it the Universal Mind, Christ Consciousness, or what you will, but it is the power that allows human beings a recognition of the universal life force that we call "God."

The life force is eternal and universal, and because of it's limitless capacity, it's a major part of all things. Moreover, it's a major part of each of us. Consequently, we all have within us an UNLIMITED POWER. Creating miracles in our lives becomes a matter of identifying with the power, understanding it's characteristics, and learning to use it effectively. This identification is achieved by knowing that the power is within you and acknowledging that fact by saying,

"I am eternal, immortal, universal, and infinite, and what I am is beautiful."

In this manner, you lock into the power source and you're poised for the next step, which involves looking at it's characteristics.

The Universal Law is impartial and unemotional. It has no way of knowing what you want, nor does it discriminate between your hopes and aspirations, likes and dislikes- it is pure energy. It accepts whatever thoughts, feelings, and actions you project and reflects them back to you unemotionally in the form of events that you experience day to day.

In much the same way that electricity illuminates both a brothel and the vicar's tea party, the Universal Law doesn't differentiate between different types of energy in your life. It will give you anything you believe in-no more and no less. Therefore the key to understanding miracles is to look at the beliefs you express as thoughts and feelings.

When you're born, your thoughts and feelings are limitless because your mind is a clean slate. What a small child projects to the Universal Law is a natural purity unbounded by the constraints of beliefs. Children often attempt the seemingly impossible: Unaware that they have any physical limitations, they drive off in the family car or walk on a high ledge. It's only later, through education, that they learn the confines of human expectancy.

But these confines or boundaries are illusions. They are formed by belief patterns, most of them born of ignorance, handed down from generation to generation. This pool of belief patterns or "collective unconscious," as Carl Jung called it, gains validity as it moves through time, and eventually the concepts that later generations experience as physical reality become rigid and domineering. It's as if billions of people who preceded you have determined what you're going to experience on the earth plane, and that's all there is to it.

This rigidity doesn't allow for genius or for the understanding that we're now in an era of rapid unfoldment. Fundamental structures are being swept away in an avalanche of awareness, and we're no longer prepared just to read about great miracle-makers; we want to have the same experience. For most people,this isn't possible because they're locked within the limitations of body and mind; their upbringing is so dominant that it encases their entire evolution, and they experience little spiritual growth.

Your position on the earth plane as a miracle-maker is inherent in the infinite power that lies within you. That limitless source lies there waiting for you to step up and collect your heritage, and when you do, the power will always be with you...

...and that is guaranteed. So be it...

The book A Course In Miracles found me in 1985 on a spring afternoon while I was walking past a book booth on 60th and 5th Avenue in NYC. It's been a most amazing journey that's still in process. JOY!

If you are even considering doing Course, follow your inner voice, the one that speaks from love. I'm posting my lesson observations starting with the Workbook on this blog.

Nayer's Notes on Lesson 1

Lesson 1 is cute and to the point. It opens one's mind to the possibility that only God has meaning and all else is an illusion, a collection of protons, neutrons and electrons with soul(s). For example, a lamp can mean a source of light, a cause for worry about an electric bill, a design element in a room, a tool to hit another for some "reason", or parts for a new invention. Meaning becomes as seemingly (God is in charge) arbitrary as circumstance. I like cute and to the point.

From A Course In Miracles - Workbook - Lesson One

"Nothing I see in this room [on this street, from this window, in this place] means anything.

W-1.1. Now look slowly around you, and practice applying this idea very specifically to whatever you see:

2 This table does not mean anything.

3 This chair does not mean anything.

4 This hand does not mean anything.

5 This foot does not mean anything.

6 This pen does not mean anything.

W-1.2. Then look farther away from your immediate area, and apply the idea to a wider range:

2 That door does not mean anything.

Notice that these statements are not arranged in any order, and make no allowance for differences in the kinds of things to which they are applied. 2 That is the purpose of the exercise. 3 The statement should merely be applied to anything you see. 4 As you practice the idea for the day, use it totally indiscriminately. 5 Do not attempt to apply it to everything you see, for these exercises should not become ritualistic. 6 Only be sure that nothing you see is specifically excluded. 7 One thing is like another as far as the application of the idea is concerned.

Only the Lord has real meaning. He is the source of our breath, the coordination of our organs to provide life, and the source for all that is and will be. It's up to us to make the best of what we have to work with.

When it came out in 1997, the poverty pimps in Harlem hasd shut down the computer training my friends and I were doing there. All doors to reopen the training were shut tight. The environmental work we had done was ignored by Harlem's elected and appointed officials, just like in the 80's when they ignored what I was telling them about crack and AIDS.

Through it all, the good people of Harlem would tell me 'Don't worry Ms. Nayer, God is going to reward you for what you've done. You know your miracle is coming.'

They were right.

Drawing breath, with all the coordination required of atoms, organs and the like, is a miracle.

Experiencing unconditional love in any form is a miracle.

Inner peace and joy are miracles.

If you can claim any of the above, you're in the miracle line.

I pray for every soul every day. You are in my prayers.

How Moses Parted the Red Sea

There is a technique I've observed. Both Moses and Harriet Tubman used it in their work.

Through prayer and meditation they asked, listened for and responded to what the Lord wanted them to do...their lists. Both were instructed to get their people out of bondage, though today that practice would be considered politically incorrect or racist.

They were guided to the resources necessary to complete their tasks.

They stepped out in faith and courage.

They got the job done, the Red Sea parted, Tubman never lost a passenger.

Here's some more detail.

Moses had a job to do. He had to get his people out of slavery and into the promised land of freedom. To accomplish this task, he had to first go inside of himself, ask for divine guidance and intervention, then stay alert for the Lord’s coincidence. Prayer is always answered, even when the answer is no.

All faith had to be replaced with the knowledge that the Lord is working in all things for the highest good.

Since Moses was raised in a wealthy home, he knew the people who traded silks and spices between the Far East and Egypt. He was guided to network his way back to them and asked them for advice about how to move a large population quickly and to where.

They told him about a route along the northern part of the Red Sea that had a big piece of land that was being used by a few 'no-mads'... perfect place for Moses to take his people. And since the Pharaoh was mad at Moses anyway, it seemed the easiest and best alternative available.

So Moses and his friends spread the word that he was going to the Promised Land. The people followed.

Because Moses was humble enough to ask for help, he was lead to where to find food and water and safe passage over what was then rough terrain. After a bit of emotional drama, they arrived, only to find out forty years later that they had been there all the time.

Pharaoh’s boys on the other hand went into terrain that they were unfamiliar with and sustained substantial losses. The only thing the ego can be counted on to do is not admit blame for failure. They, because of their unacceptably high losses, came back with the story of the parting of the Red Sea in an effort to save face.

The drama concept was provided by reality.

There is a place at the northern part of the Red Sea where it comes close to the Mediterranean Sea. This parcel of land has places that are below sea level. A search on Google Earth will show you current sea levels but it will give you a feel for the land.

Because of this above/below sea level, an optical illusion occurs. From one position the two bodies of water are separate, from another, the bodies of water seem joined. Looks real, yet, just an optical illusion. At the time many were uneducated, maps of that area were rare and there was no mass media. So the story grew.

Harriet Tubman did the same thing thousands of years later. She prayed and meditated, was led to the already existing Underground Railroad structure, did her job and let the Lord take care of the rest.

Remember, to part your own Red Sea, go inside first through love, prayer and meditation, ask for divine guidance, listen for the answers, and follow The Lord’s lead. It’s easy to find. It’s the one based on love and the highest good for all concerned.

(A thought to help understand another's passing onto afterlife)

On the other side of the trauma,
Of my body passing away,
Please understand that
Death is only a transformation.

Like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly,
Like a hurricane becoming a breeze,
Like water becoming steam,
Like an egg becoming a human being,
I've become one of your angels.

Know that the soul part of me,
That which you cannot physically see,
Is with you all ways,
Loving you, like you love me.

So cry until the tears are gone,
Love and bless me with your song,
And know that in time,
Your sorrow will be washed away.

Continue to pray for every soul every day,

The Lessons of Peace from Cancer Cells

Is it possible that thoughts convey actions to our cells?

In the 80’s, a young student observed that cells have edges that quiver as they move. His story was broadcast on the Today Show.

What the student observed was that when a healthy cell contacts another cell, the part that quivers stops quivering, and the quivering on the opposite side of the cell increases dramatically.

In a cancerous cell, the contact side does not stop quivering when it touches another cell. Instead of being at peace with the other cells, it stays in its own selfish quivering mode.

Here’s a cause and effect question.

What if peaceful thoughts created a peaceful body, sending instructions to cells to be at peace with each other?

Could this create a spontaneous remission / miracle healing? Or would the constant change slowly remove the cause of the tumor when it's cause, stress or toxic environment is removed?

What if forgiving thoughts relieved enough chronic stress to help create peace on a cellular level, where tumors are formed (cancerous cells)?

With what we know about the spiritual aspects of hemp combined with it’s harm reduction cellular communication function, are there lesson here for the proposed Hemp Division (apply hemp to modern problems it solves, like global warming, medicine, building materials) of the Department of Peace?

Chauncey Bailey Is Now A Spirit, Not A Ghost!

“One of my favorite memories was watching him edit Kimberly and Kelly's (Hardin’s nieces) elementary school newspaper he founded called the FLASH.”

“He worked for the Detroit News and got them to donate a newsstand for the school. He put a box in front of the principal’s office and the elementary school students had a deadline to put their stories in the box. Every Wednesday he would pick up the box with the stories and bring it home. Wednesday was FLASH night in our home. He would sit there at the typewriter and edit all of those stories and put them in a newspaper format. He would then run off the copies and every Friday morning before the children would arrive at school he would fill the newsstand with the newspapers and sit across the street and watch the young children go to their newsstand, open it up, get their newspaper and begin to read. He said it was important to edit the stories because he said you had to reinforce a positive. At the time he left to go back to Oakland it was the only weekly elementary school newspaper in the United States. That is the Chauncey I knew and loved. He cared, he truly cared.”

Thank you to the people of Oakland who created this tribute to the hardest working man in journalism, Chauncey Bailey.

His search for truth cost him his life. His search for truth has granted him eternal life.

It's true. Chauncey Bailey is now a Spirit, not a ghost. Long live Chauncey Bailey. Long live all good spirits and souls.
